Barbara
Stoner has conducted Judaic art workshops for
the past 15 years. Her passion for sharing the
rich history, tradition, and symbolism of Judaic
ritual objects has garnered her a devoted following
of both educators and workshop participants. Barbara
has taught religious studies, Hebrew, and Judaic
art to students of all levels, elementary to adult,
having served four congregations in California
and New Jersey as program director, rabbinic assistant,
youth group leader, artist-in-residence,and b’nai
mitzvah tutor. A commissioned textile artist herself,
her works appear in synagogues and private homes
throughout the U.S., England, France, and South
Africa. She is currently pursuing an advanced
degree in the history and conservation of Judaic
textiles.

Workshop with Barbara
Running
a Judaic Art Kits program is very easy (See Running
a Workshop 101). If, however, you want a truly
unforgettable experience, filled with enthusiasm,
humor, and creative energy, invite Barbara to do your
workshop! She will bring the precious heirlooms you
are creating alive with her knowledge of and love
for Judaic art, and her tallit workshops conclude
with a touching family blessing. The steps below provide
you with everything you need to know about bringing
Barbara to your community.

Figure
out the workshop costs to see if your budget allows
bringing a guest presenter or run the workshop
using your own staff. Your costs will include:
1. Judaic Art Kits' supplies:
Base Kits: See appropriate product
page for pricing and quantity discounts.
Pattern Folder: $18, $36, or $40 plus the cost
of making 11x17" copies @ $3.00 per base
kit (unless you prefer to make the copies yourself).
Marvy Fabric
Markers (For Siddur
Cover workshop, you'll need the DecoFabric
paint markers).
Magic
Sizing Spray Cans.
2. Instructor Costs:
Instruction Fee: $50-$75 per hour (See
chart below for workshop length). Guarantee
of a minimum of 10 participants per workshop except
as otherwise noted.
3. Travel Costs:
Either the cost of round-trip airfare (Plus $15.00
per day airport parking fees), or, if travel by
car, $0.50 per mile (each way) from Charlotte,
NC to your location.
Car rental.
Either hotel accommodation or home hospitality
is accepted. |

in the Promotional
Flyer Request Form. We will customize, free
of charge, a promotional flyer for your workshop. |

| To
reserve your workshop date, mail a nonrefundable
deposit of $500 to Barbara Stoner. |

| Call
us to borrow a sample of a Garment in Process.
This is a sample of the garment you are looking
to create. It shows the process in which the garment
is made: from a blank fabric, to a traced design,
to a colored segment. This will help people understand
the simplicity of the process and see the high
quality of the finished heirloom. While there
is no charge for the Garment in Process, we do
need your credit card information to secure the
return of the garment. |

| Invite
target audience for an informational gathering
where you'll promote the workshop, display the
Garment in Process, and distribute the promotional
flyers. |

| Collect
registration forms and make reminder calls to
those who forgot to register. |
| |
 |
Call
us to place your order and call Barbara to let
her know the final
numbers.
Whenever possible, Barbara offers assistance with
a Materials Preparation Workshop. This greatly
facilitates the actual workshop and is a good
way to get interested parents involved. Call her
for further details. |

Get
the workshop room ready:
Access to set up the room is needed for at least
two hours prior to workshop.
Room should be well lit. If the room lighting
is insufficient, please bring in additional lights.
Three to four 6-8' smooth-surfaced tables for
supplies.
Set as many 6-8' smooth-surfaced tables for participants
as required (see chart below
for details).
Cover tables with Kraft paper. Secure paper with
masking tape at each corner.
Set needed supplies as follows:
- One roll of masking tape per kit
- One pair of large scissors per kit
- One pencil per kit
- One glue-stick (white only) per kit
- Irons, ironing boards, and extension cords. |
